File Scavenger – Software to Recover Lost Files and Folders
Getting rid of a file you no longer need is a very straightforward process. You need only select that file, then drag and drop it to the Recycle Bin. An even easier method at your disposal is to select a file and then press the Delete key on the keyboard. To make sure that file is not moved to the Recycle Bin, then you can press Shift + Delete.
There will be a time when you will accidentally delete a file – either because you’re so busy you’re no longer thinking straight, or because you genuinely thought you don’t need that file anymore. In a scenario I don’t even want to think about, you might have your computer infected with malware, and that malware may delete some of your files. In all of these scenarios you will want to do one thing and one thing only: recover your lost data.
You should know that just because you deleted a file, it is not lost. The data is not lost unless it is overwritten; and even so, it would have to be overwritten several times to be lost forever. With a properly good data recovery application you can get the file you lost back – such a software application is the QueTek-developed File Scavenger (an application that weighs in at under 1MB by the way).
File Scavenger will work on pretty much any Windows version you can think of, starting with Windows 2000 and up to Vista and Windows 7. It is capable of scanning your hard disks, floppy disks, ZIP disks, memory sticks, Flash cards and other storage devices and recover any type of file that used to be stored on that device and is now lost.
During the time we spent testing File Scavenger we found that it could detect and recover recently deleted files as well as files that were deleted a long time ago. We also found that its straight to the point user interface allows any type of use, novice or advanced, to easily and quickly recover the file or files he lost.
What I found particularly useful about File Scavenger is that it can recover files and folders. It runs in the background, without eating up all your system's resources.
